Apples to Oranges

It’s easy to underestimate the willpower of a stoner. But this article, which might be one of many in a series (because that’s the range the dankies have given us), will discuss, contemplate and even imagine various objects used to consume cannabis. Spoiler alert: It’s not your standard bong, pipe or papers!

We asked on IG (@dankdykes_) last week : “What random objects have you smoked out of”? We couldn’t respond at the rate we were receiving answers, but some highlights were: Trombone, Bible papers and several people mentioning M*Donald’s products (assumingly before the boycott?). You may be wondering how these feats of stoner engineering are even possible. I’m still stumped on the trombone.

I guess not so surprisingly, the most popular responses were *fruit*. Not just because our audience is *fruity* af, but because it’s somewhat common to resort to fruits and vegetables when you don’t have another smoking tool. Most notably, apples are used. However some other responses we got were: oranges, potatoes, pumpkins (like 6 people said pumpkins!), watermelon and banana. Personally, I love using fruits as a “backup” pipe because they add an extra note of flavor to your cannabis.

For the baby stoners that are like, “what the hell are you talking about?”, just know you can turn practically anything into a smoking device. In the case of fruits and vegetables, or let’s say an apple, all you need to do is create an T-shaped pathway in the apple. A metal straw would be a great tool for this but you could use any hard rod or sharp blade. You’ll create one pathway going from the top of the apple (remove the stem) to about half way down. Then you’ll use the same tool to make a complete pathway from one side of the apple to the other. Viola! Your bowl is now on the top of the apple where the steam previously was, and your mouthpiece is on the side of the apple. Depending on which side you choose to be your mouthpiece, the opposite side will be your carb (a hole on the side of the pipe that allows you to control the amount of airflow with your finger).

The mystical ways of the dankies, and what they’ve smoked out of is to be continued. It starts here and continues with Takis, chocolate Easter bunnies and the coveted, GRAVITY BONG. Stay tuned for more Apples to Oranges!
